Anointing

The Anointed  and the Anointing

There is a chasm between being anointed and the anointing.

Anointed

Anointed speaks of a person’s purpose

Therefore, a person is anointed or ordained by God to bring about a certain purpose.

David was anointed by Samuel to be King- this was his purpose.

Jesus read the scriptures and declared His purpose.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” (Luke 4:18)

Then there is “the anointing”

Anointing is really linked to the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life. It refers in part to the gift of God but it is also refers in part to the dedication and the authority of the believer.

Two questions arise

  1. How then do we bridge the gap between the anointed and the anointing?
  2. How  then, does one possess the anointing?

Question 1 Answer:

TO bridge the gap between the anointed and the anointing, there must be submission to God.

The more you submit to Him- to the leading of the Holy Spirit- the more the anointing will arise and flow through you.

Question 2 Answer:

In order to flow in the anointing, the starting point is a spiritual detox.

Detox your spirit- we cleanse our physical bodies to be free of toxins and other contaminants. What about the things that contaminate your spirit?

After making the amazing decision to accept Christ into your life, by that very choice you have become a militant in a spiritual war.

WAR not only external but internal – so much so that you are fighting “to possess the land” that is yours within your own spirit.

But there is also someone fighting for your territory – he once owned you and had occupied that territory. By your decision to become a citizen of another Kingdom – you have made yourself a target.

It also involves a detoxification of influences

Modern day influences such as

  • Occult
  • Pornography
  • Spiritual abuses
  • Spiritual ties
  • Spiritual oppression and possession.

The list goes on and on.

You must take back the territory

You must walk in your SPIRIT GIVEN ABILITY and AUTHORITY – Always submitting to GOD in order for the marvelous anointing of God to flow.

IF we can understand this, it is only then, you can actually see the miracles of God, the power and the glory.

We must put aside things we know. For the great  revival and refreshing to occur, we must empty ourselves of the old pre-conceived ideas, cultures and traditions. New wine needs new wineskins.

Seek out the living God fervently.

Make no mistake- there is a kingdom fighting against us, using every tactic available to distract and keep us sedated so that even though we may be anointed, we are not fully flowing in His anointing.

David sums this up in Psalm 51 (KJV).

(Only thing to remember here is that the Holy Spirit was ON David and could be taken away. In the New Testament, He has been given to us and now resides IN us)

Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me

Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me

Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow

Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice

Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me

Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee

Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.

For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem

Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.
